A Love Reaffirmed
I love NPR. And here in DC, although it's a big city with lots of colleges, the radio stinks. Which means I listen to NPR almost constantly in my car. And today, while driving to Trader Joe's (about half my credit card bill is there every month), I was reminded of why I love NPR. Here's something I never thought I would see together in a sentence - NPR reviewed the new album by Britney Spears, and actually gave it a positive review. Hearing this reminds me of what I love about myself and also so many of my friends. The intelligent, serious, responsible side that also holds a funny side that loves pop culture. Nothing like hearing the Fresh Aire credits being read over a little Britney.

I also adore NPR. I've actually been late to work every day this week because I've been lying in bed listening to something fascinating.
Gotta admit I do like me some NPR. One of my favorite shows was a discussion on which super power people would rather have and why: flying or being invisible. Really funny and interesting at the same time.
I love NPR and it's the only radio I listen to. But I'll be the first commentor to confess that she also likes Britney Spears. Or rather I like whoever writes that aural cocaine that is her music. So asinine, so danceable. I outed myself to friends and family a few months back and it's just easier this way. 'Twas so hard living that double life.
Had no idea she had a new record. Where does she find the time, between flashing the paparazzi, shaving her head, and neglecting her children?
Lena - Me too! I have sat in my car listening to the end of a piece when I really should just finish my errands.
Sara - Me too! I heard that episode of This American Life, weird how the division of who chose which super power roughly broke down along gender lines.
Marie - Me too! I like Britney. And I have finally admitted that, as well as admitting my love of Kelly Clarkson. I'm not sure any song out there will guarantee my singing along quite as much as "Since U Been Gone" Oh the grammarian nightmare!
I went to see Britney's movie Crossroads when it came out. And I kind of liked it.
Lizzy - Me too! OK not really, I saw it on video, but I had to continue the "me too" trend.
